Summary:
The Assistant Storage Manager will focus on the efficient utilization of labor, equipment, and assets to store and utilize the highest quality onions and potatoes possible with the lowest input cost possible without jeopardizing quality.
The focus for this position is potato and onion storage and the implementation of food safety protocols as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Potato/Onion Storage:
Work with the Storage Manager and various Farm Managers to prepare storages for harvest Coordinate, lead and oversee the filling of assigned potato and onion storages Monitor and maintain inventories of potato and onion storages Assist in the coordination and performance of equipment maintenance (climate control systems, water drainage, etc.
,) Assist in the coordination and execution of storage chemical treatments Assist in the monitoring of temperatures, humidity and quality of crops in storages Work with the load out teams to coordinate and ship potatoes and onions from storages.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist the Food Safety team with implementation and documentation of company food and industrial safety policies as needed Special projects as needed Annual parts and equipment inventory Contribute to keeping a safe, clean and tidy work environment, including but not limited to work stations, vehicles, and surrounding areas Additional Expectations:
The Assistant Storage Manager is expected to attend routine production and planning meetings and annual planning sessions as they occur.
The Assistant Storage Manager is expected to participate as member of the Greenridge Farming team and to serve those who work within the company.
Attend industry meetings and educational opportunities as requested.
The Assistant Storage Manager is expected to be able to sit stand and walk, lift at least 60lbs, work on a ladder, stand for long periods of time While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.
The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Qualifications:
Must have proven track record of agriculture production Must have some experience of potato and onion storage equipment and facilities Must have experience and some proficiency in the usage of Excel and Word Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license Must possess or be willing to acquire a chemical applicators license Must have a demonstrated desire to learn Must be able to communicate in the English language while being bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Must be willing to work at night during harvest or at other times as needed.
